APIA, SAMOA – 16 APRIL 2021: The only major change in the final results of the 2021 general elections is the confirmation of FAST candidate Leota Laki Lamositele for Palauli 2. After the final count, he took over the lead from Tiatia Laulu Mapesone who won on election night by 2 votes but it did not change the 25-25 tie between HRPP and FAST.

The Palauli 2 seat had been held by senior HRPP member, Faumuinā Tiatia Liuga for twenty years and having two FAST candidates top the poll this election, reflects the constituency’s mood.

Before the polls, HRPP had nine sure seats. Party leader, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and Lealailepule Rmoni Aiafi were cleared by the court and returned unopposed. There were seven constituencies that guaranteed HRPP seats as there were no FAST candidates running.

FAST on the other hand, had only its Leader, Fiamē Naomi Mata’afa who was elected unopposed. On election night, HRPP won 23 seats while FAST won 24 and one Independent. Those confirmed elected.
