APIA, SAMOA – 17 MAY 2021: Samoan rugby has been renamed and rebranded as Lakapi Samoa with launch of the new Logo last Friday at Lakapi Samoa Headquarters – Tuana’imato.

In launching the new brand, the Chairman Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi confirmed that Lakapi Samoa has transitioned through a reform process which started in 2015 and restructured the administration and reformed the Union’s Constitution that it currently operates under.

In keeping track with the current momentum, Lakapi Samoa’s ambition is to review and reinvigorate itself with a new name, logo and direction.

After months of consultation with Provincial Unions, Stake Holders and the Board of Directors, the Union agreed on the new strategic plan with new core values, goals and focus for the Union and a new name and logo.

Over 300 entries were received in the Lakapi Samoa Logo contest and the winning design approved by the Board of Directors was designed by local artist Irwin Kennar. He was also the artist behind the winning logo used for the Pacific Games 2019.

The Chairman also announced the new branding names the Unions various rugby teams will be using in international competitions.
