Chinese Forensic Pathologist Team Completes Mission in Samoa

APIA, SAMOA – 31 MAY 2021: The team of 8 Chinese forensic pathologists has completed post-mortem examinations on 13 bodies that have been stored in the morgue for almost 1 year awaiting autopsies.
The Chinese Embassy in Apia said the Chinese forensic pathologist team also conducted an additional 3 autopsies of current cases requested by the Samoan government.
The Embassy said the forensic pathologists are the top experts with high skill levels in China.
The causes of death of those 16 bodies were finally determined by comprehensive post-mortem examinations and the Chinese forensic pathologist team has already handed over the expert opinions and evidences of all 16 cases to the Office of Attorney General and the Police Commissioner for further judicial procedures.
“Adhering to the traditional friendship between China and Samoa, the Chinese forensic pathologist team assisted in a re-inspection on the scene of a hit-and-run case and conducted two forensic technical training lectures at the invitation of the Samoa Police, including the crime scene investigation and the fingerprint application.”
The team arrived in Apia on April 29 on a request by the Samoan Government. The Chinese forensic pathologist team will be back in China on June 4.
The Chinese government also provided equipment for post-mortem examination and also covered all the expenses including the autopsy, travel and accommodation of the Chinese forensic pathologist team, which cost more than $500,000 talā.
