APIA, SAMOA – 23 JUNE 2021: The Faatuatua I le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party is set to retain the Lefaga & Faleaseela parliamentary seat after the petition against their elected Member of Parliament, Masinalupe Makesi Masinalupe was withdrawn in court this morning.

The petitioner, Su’a Tanielu Su’a through counsel Leiataualesā Jerry Brunt applied to withdraw the petition.

Counsel for Masinalupe, Muriel Lui also applied to withdraw the counter petition against Su’a.

Both counsels had been asked to follow the normal procedure to have their applications with reasons of withdrawal to be advertised in a newspaper then confirm with the Court next week.

Also confirmed today was the parliamentary seat for FAST MP, Fesola’i Apulu Tusiupu Tuigamala of Aana Alofi 1, which was withdrawn last week with counsels confirming their advertisement today.

Both MP’s showed gratitude to the petitioners for allowing them to serve their respectful constituencies.

Masinalupe acknowledged the support of his village and party and hope to serve his district and country well.

Fesola’i also thanked his village and party’s support and will meet with the village this coming Saturday at Faleasiu.
