Three Police Officers Suspended Over Drugs Investigation

APIA, SAMOA – 19 FEBRUARY 2022: Three police officers in the rank of Corporal have been suspended and one has resigned over the current police investigation into alleged officer’s involvement in the illegal drugs trade.

The Acting Commissioner, Afamasaga Samuelu Afamasaga confirmed with Talamua the suspension and at least 23 police officers are under investigation for their alleged connection and the number is expected to rise.

The officers investigated rank from Senior Sargent, to Sargent and corporals.

The allegations against the police officers were based on the police Intel and information collected from their recent drug raids.

Afamasaga said that two of the suspended officers are from the Traffic Division and one is from the Faleata police outpost

“Police involved in such offences will not be tolerated,” said Afamasaga.
