196 Active COVID-19 Cases so far

APIA, SAMOA – 21 MARCH 2022: Eighty five (85) new community cases were recorded at 2pm Sunday 20 March 2022, bringing the total number of active Covid-19 cases (so far) to 196 including 15 active imported cases.

Four cases have been confirmed in Savaii with 192 in Upolu and no cases in Manono and Apolima Islands.

The Ministry of Health confirms a total of 2,207 tests were carried out, since the 18th of March 2022 in six (6) designated COVID-19 screening sites, in addition to tests conducted in health facilities.

Of the 181 active community cases reported, 62 positive cases were confirmed from the 6 screening sites with 119 cases confirmed in health facilities.

The highest percentage of positive cases at 47% was recorded at the Red Cross Headquarters, Tuana’imato screening site.

The Ministry of Health has identified 428 close contacts which are currently being investigated.

  • 196 Total Active Cases which is 181 Active Community cases and 15 active imported cases
  • 192 cases in Upolu and 4 in Savaii, 0 at Manono and Apolima Islands
  • 11 in Isolation at Tupua Tamasese Meaole National Hospital
  • No ICU cases
