APIA, SAMOA – 17 MAY 2022: Police have arrested and charged a young male for assaulting a Chinese shopkeeper in the face after security footage showing the incident went viral.

Deputy Commissioner, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo confirmed that the man has been charged with assault.

According to Auapaau, the young man who was a customer at the mart was told by the shop owner to wear a face mask and that there was no Rover alcohol sold.

He ended up punching the shop owner and walked off while another customer was waiting for his shopping as the shop owner fell out of the camera frame after he got the punched on the face.

Police confirmed the incident happened at the Chinese owned mini mart by the lights at Malifa.
