APIA, SAMOA – 05 SEPTEMBER 2022: The Supreme Court has found the former Deputy Electoral Commissioner, Afualo Daryl Mapu guilty of 6 charges of possession of narcotics.

Justice Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala Warren delivered her verdict last Friday.

“For the foregoing reasons, I am satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that Daryl was in possession of the narcotics, utensils, firearms and ammunition being the subject of the 6 charges against him” said Justice Warren.

Afualo will be sentenced on 14 October 2022 and the judge ordered a pre-sentence report and the bail conditions continue until he is sentenced.

Afualo’s co-defendant, Marie Fanueli has been acquitted of all charges.

“I am not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that Marie was in possession of narcotics, utensils firearms or ammunitions. All charges against her are dismissed,” said Justice Warren.
