Taula Samoa IBFC International Golf Club Championship 2022 kicks off

Le Vaiotausala Golfers Club from Fagalii, the defending champions of the Taula Samoa IBFC International Golf Championship Cup.

APIA, SAMOA – 16 SEPTEMBER 2022: Three overseas golf clubs and ten local clubs are vying for the Taula Samoa IBFC International Golf Club Championship 2022 that teed of its first day this morning. This followed the tournament launch Wednesday evening at the Faleata Golf Course.

All participating teams were welcomed in an Ava ceremony attended by the Minister of Commerce Industry and Labour, Leatinuu Wayne Sooialo, the Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Olo Fiti Vaai, sponsors, heads of corporations and private businesses.

The two day tournament is part of the Teuila Festival 2022’s official program and runs from 16 – 17 September.

Tournament Director, Taupau Carlton Chadwick said the tournament which was initially launched last year will become an annual event in response to the Minister of Sports, Seu’ula Ioane’s call to include overseas teams following the opening of Samoa’s borders.

The tournament is being run at Fagalii and Tuanaimato golf courses and the winning club will go home with a cash prize of WST$4,000 as well as medals and the Cup.

Le Vaiotausala Golfers club from Fagalii are the defending champions.
