APIA, SAMOA – 07 OCTOBER 2022: Three men currently in custody at Tanumalala prison over the shooting and marijuana raid at Salelavalu village last weekend have been slapped with $1,000 tala fines each by the Salelavalu village council.

This is regardless of what is to follow when they appear in court and the normal procedure of the law.

The fines were imposed on Manuia Lafaele, Apisaloma Setu and Masina Lega Taulelei who are now in police custody.

Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo led the Tactical Operations Squad in Savaii earlier in the week to arrest the three individuals wanted by police over the marijuana raid and the shooting.

The Police Tactical Operations Squad was only involved after the shooting at a group of police officers who carried out the raid. Two officers were injured during the shootout and were both treated and discharged.

The Minister of Police, Lefau Harry Schuster confirmed that one of the two injured officers is from Salelavalu.
