Vietnamese accused out on bail to await sentence

APIA, SAMOA – 11 OCTOBER 2022: Supreme Court Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma has granted bail for Vietnamese citizen, Vo Nanh Ha and is ordered to stay at a hotel in town to await his sentencing this week for the possession of 6 grams of marijuana.

The police summary of facts states that Ha who works at the American Samoa Health Department was transiting through Samoa on 01 September 2022 on his way to Vietnam.

However, he was caught with 6 grams of marijuana at the Faleolo International airport and was arrested and placed under police custody until last week when he appeared in court with a translator.

Justice Roma ordered a probation report and for all his travel documents to be surrendered to the Registrar.

He will be sentenced on Thursday this week.
