Police arrest woman wanted for deception

APIA, SAMOA – 13 OCTOBER 2022: Police have arrested a woman, Lynn Nauer who was wanted after eight individuals filed complaints against her for deception.

Deputy Police Commissioner, Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti confirmed that the woman has been detained on eight counts of deception.

She is now in police custody while investigations are underway.

Nauer’s name and photos were circulated on social media after members of the public accused her of deception and for posing as a Government official managing the seasonal work program and taking their money.

A week ago, images of several men chasing her vehicle in downtown Apia were captured and reported by the media. The men were reported to be after recovering the money they paid the accused.

Meanwhile, police have reported a drop in the number of cases reported to police over the White Sunday long weekend.

There were 220 cases reported in this period last year and has dropped to 146 last weekend.

“All these cases are not so serious ones and compared to last year, the number of cases have dropped during the White Sunday period,” Papali’i explained.

These cases are mostly traffic, theft, uttering insulting words and abuse and the majority of the cases were reported through the Faleata and Faleolo police posts.
