APIA, SAMOA – 16 DECEMBER 2022: A pathologist from Fiji has started post mortems on nine bodies including that of a 49 year old mother suspected to have been assaulted.

The case was reported by the deceased’s family last week and police are awaiting a decision from the Coroner if a post mortem should be conducted on the victim of a traffic incident at Salelologa last weekend.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Papali’i Monalisa Keti said the deceased’s body was found early Saturday morning at Salelologa and was reported to the Tuasivi police.

According to police records, the deceased was sleeping by the roadside when a car driven by a woman at around 3.00am Saturday morning ran him over.

The woman has been charged and police are awaiting the Coroners decision.

Out of the nine bodies, 7 have been in the morgue since August awaiting post mortems.

Papali’i said it is very expensive to bring a pathologist over for these special operations and the last time a pathologist was in Samoa was July 2022.
