Court grants final adjournment in former AGs sue against the Prime Minister

APIA, SAMOA – 06 FEBRUARY 2023:  Supreme Court Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke has granted a final adjournment for the lawsuit by former Attorney General, Savalenoa Mareva Betham-Annandale against Prime Minister, Fiame Naomi Mataafa and the Office of the Attorney General.

Counsel for Savalenoa, Dr. Harrison told the Court that the respondents have not filed any affidavits as previously ordered by the Court.

According to Court documents, Counsel for the respondents, Taulapapa Brenda Heather-Latu confirmed that they have not filed any affidavits as the Prime Minister was still overseas.

She then asked for a 3 weeks adjournment as she was not sure when her client would return.

Justice Clarke granted the adjournment to 27 February 2023 and it will be the final adjournment.

Savalenoa is suing for $650,000 claiming she was unlawfully dismissed from office in September 2021.
