APIA, SAMOA – 05 APRIL 2023: Fifty seven police officers received promotions in a special ceremony today.

The Minister for Police, Prisons & Corrections, Faualo Harry Schuster applauded those who got promotions for furthering their careers and encouraged those who did not make it to believe in themselves and that their time will come.

“We are all aware that this is not an easy profession, as you have to put yourself out there in order to protect and keep the peace while you uphold the law at the same time as well as being put in harm’s way while maintaining order in the prison facilities,” he said.

He noted that being a police officer is not an easy path, but he encouraged all of them to stay the course and do their best in serving the people of Samoa as well as visitors.

“In unity we stand firm and serve with pride and honour. I congratulate all of you for achieving another milestone, thank you for your collective approach to policing and protecting the Samoan community,” the Minister said.

Aldora Mamaia is only the second female Superintendent following today’s promotions.

“Promoting to a higher rank comes with much responsibility and action, and I am humbled by this promotion,” said Mamaia.

Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo is happy to see an increase in the number of female officers stepping further up to provide a gender balance within the police service.

He is even happier to note the female officers in the top level management of the police service and noted Asdora Mamaia’s progress today to Superintendent as one of them.
