Marist Sports Club receives continued support form SSAB

APIA, SAMOA -18 MAY 2023: The Marist Sports Club received $10, 000 tala donation from the SSAB Company this morning as part of the company’s continuing support of the Club. The donation was received by the President of the Marist Sports Club, Pouniu Peter Schmidt.

Pouniu conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to the Chief Executive Officer of SSAB, Afioga Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai, the General Counsel of SSAB Group, Afioga Tuatagaloa Aumua Ming Leung Wai and ACEO of SSAB Sales and Marketing, Asomua Asia Stanley.

“We acknowledge SSAB’s ongoing support of the Marist Sports Club for many years. You are always on standby to assist all the time even if our requests are put through at the last minute,” said Pouniu.

Since the establishment of SSAB 14 years ago, the company has been side by side by with the Sports Club in all its efforts and sporting development programs.

“SSAB is a strong supporter of the Marist Sports Club because of our belief in supporting and developing our local players as well as helping them achieve their goals in whatever sport they are a part of,” said CEO Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai.

The Marist Sports Club consists of the Marist Teams that are active and competing in various sports such as Golf, Boxing, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Touch Rugby, Netball (to name a few) deploying firm development activities to provide a platform for local talents as well as promoting healthy lifestyles and staying-healthy.

The donation is made up of $5,000tala cash and $5,000tala in-kind and according to Pouniu this will assist substantially with the funding of upcoming tournaments already in the pipeline such as the Marist International 7s commencing at the start of June.

CEO Tofilau acknowledged the work of the Marist Sports Club President, Executive and the Club members.
