Overseas visitors robbed while eating at restaurant

APIA, SAMOA – 13 JUNE 2023: Police have arrested two young men in connection with a robbery that took place at a local restaurant last Saturday evening.

Police Deputy Commissioner, Papalii Monalisa Tiai said the victims of the robbery were an Asian couple who were eating at the restaurant with another couple also said to be from overseas.

Eyewitness reports said the incident happened very quickly and they saw two young men running away with a bag and the Asian woman screaming at them.

Papalii said police were notified who later recovered the couple’s bag and properties not far from the restaurant and had been returned to them.

She also dismissed reports that there was a lot of foreign cash inside the bag the young men stole.
