APIA, SAMOA – 28 JULY 2023:  The Police Commissioner, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo has clarified that there was there was no dead body but a young couple who suffered injuries when they fell inside a hole at the Vaitele Reserve a day ago.

The reserve is opposite the Le Amosa School and has deep ravines as it used to be a quarry.

“There was no dead body as assumed by many but a 19 year old woman and a 22 year old man who both fell inside a hole at the reserve,” said Auapaau.

He said the couple had an argument and the woman took off and tried to jump, however, the young man caught up with her and they struggled and both ended up in the ravine.
