Police Commissioner reassures children’s safety after car accident

Apia, 14 September 2023: The Commissioner of the Ministry of Police & Prisons, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo has reassured the safety of the children residents of the Campus of Hope after a car accident threatened the security of the shelter facility.

The Commissioner visited the children survivors of violence under the care of the Samoa Victim Support Group and spoke to the children and reassured of the Police’s commitment to ensure that they are safe from further harm, after the gates to the Campus was damaged by a reckless driver.

The Commissioner also visited the babies and toddlers at the House of Blessing nursery on the Campus.

SVSG President Siliniu Lina Chang, acknowledged the prompt response from the Faleata Police following the incident, and the continued support throughout this time.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the various support networks, churches, families and friends of SVSG for reaching out to us, offering counselling support for the children and the carers, visiting and spending quality time with us as we’ve come to terms with the impact of this incidence to the saving lives work SVSG delivers,” said Siliniu.

The Faleata Police have been very helpful in patrolling the area while awaiting the construction and installation of a new and solid security gate to the campus.
