11 suspects arrested and charged in Police raid at Puipa’a

Apia, Samoa – 21 September 2023: Samoa Police have charged 11 suspects for the possession of illegal drugs and illegal weapons following a raid at Puipa’a village yesterday morning.

The eleven suspects are currently in police custody. Police said they confiscated a substantial quantity of methamphetamine drugs estimated to have a street value of $50,000 talā, ammunition and $23,000 talā in cash from the site.

The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) said the successful execution of this raid at Puipa’a demonstrates SPPCS’ commitment to combating the distribution of illicit drugs and the possession of dangerous weapons.

A police raid last month at the same district also obtained illegal drugs and charged suspects for illegal possession.

Member of Parliament for the district, Ale Vena Ale told the media last night that the Village Councils is adamant to eliminate illegal drugs and trade from the district and they have already removed the family where police raided and found drugs last month.
