Petroleum Products prices down for January 2024

Apia, Samoa – 03 January 2024: The New Year has started with a decrease in petroleum product prices. Petrol decreases by 8.1 sene per litre from $3.23 to $3.15. Diesel is down by 18.9 sene a litre from $3.57 to $3.38 sene a litre and Kerosene is down by 20.8 sene per litre from $3.21 to $3.00.

The Minister of Finance said he January prices are based on November 2023 MOPS market prices.

Crude oil and refined product prices continued to decrease in November in spite of OPEC+ reducing crude oil supply. Increased oil production from non OPEC+ nations and ongoing concerns regarding the contraction of overall demand are quoted as the reasons for the price decreases.

The Samoan Tala also appreciated over the US dollar leading to a decrease in the freight and landed costs of fuel in Samoa.

Diesel – $3.38 per litre
Kerosene – $3.00 per litre
