Digicel Samoa gets Greenlight to Launch 5G Technology

Apia, SAMOA – 13 March 2024 – The Government has given Digicel Samoa the greenlight to launch its 5G technology.

In making the announcement, Digicel Samoa Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Seusesu said they are currently working with the Nokia Company to upgrade local cell tower sites before the launch.

He said the Government has granted “conditional approval” for the project and they are ready to offer the latest high-speed connectivity to customers.

“With the conditional approval from the Office of the Regulator for the introduction of 5G technology, we look forward to ushering in a new era of connectivity with a diverse application for our customers soon,” he said.

Seuseu said their upgraded cell sites in Apia and across Samoa will be consistent with cyber security standards defined for 5G to ensure the security and resilience of critical national infrastructure.

Seuseu is confident that partnering with Nokia’s state of art equipment will enable the sustainability and improving of coverage across the country including mobile internet speed.

“Our commitment to innovation remains steadfast and this technology upgrade aligns with our mission to deliver supreme speeds and exceptional network  experiences for our valued customers,” said Seuseu.
