The recipient of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Scholarship is Le’aututū Manuia Lameta-Brown, a 26 year old male from the village of Ululoloa.

He has been selected to pursue his Master’s program in the area of energy systems focusing specifically on providing grid inertia support for greater utilisation of inverter-based renewable energy resources at Kyoto University. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from the University of Auckland.

The Embassy of Japan in Apia organised a brief pre-departure orientation for the scholarship recipient earlier today (25 March).

Lameta-Brown is very excited to travel to Japan to pursue further studies in his respective field and hopes that upon completion of his course he would remarkably contribute to the development of Samoa.

The scholarship program not only underscores the strong ties between Japan and Samoa but also aims to promote academic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
