Tribunal Decision on Suspended Police Officers to be delivered today

Apia, SAMOA – 20 May 2024 – The outcome of the Police Tribunal hearing against two officers will be finalised and delivered today by one of the Deputy Commissioners.

Tribunal decision is at the discretion of the Police Commissioner, however, the Commissioner, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo was a witness against the defendants so the decision has been passed down to a Deputy Commissioner.

The defendants are suspended Police Inspector, Li’o Fa’ataumalama Auava who has been found guilty of three charges against him.

Li’o faced five charges which included failing to report, conducting an unauthorised investigation, negligence and breach of Code of Conduct.

His co-defendant Henifa Bryce was also found guilty of failing to report.

Police presented 26 witnesses and the defendants only provided two.

The decision today will determine whether the accused are to be fined, reinstated or terminated.
