Police charge three men in two separate murder incidents

Apia, SAMOA – 19 June 2024 – Police have charged three young men in two separate alleged murder cases.

Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo confirmed two men have been charged with the murder of a young man at Nu’u in the weekend.

The accused are from the village of Faleula and the deceased is from Matavai, Safune in Savaii.

The deceased’s body was found at Nu’u and brought to the national hospital in the weekend.

The mortician posted a picture of the deceased on social media in the efforts to find the deceased’s family so he could be identified.

In a separate incident at Samata in Savaii, several days of tensions over a land dispute resulted in the death of a young man on Sunday night.

Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo confirmed police have identified the accused and is currently in custody for further investigations.

The accused in these two cases with appear in Court next week.
