Digicel launches support for grassroots soccer development

Apia, SAMOA – 03 July 2024 – Digicel Samoa today announced its sponsorship of the Samoa Football Federations (SFF) grassroots development program through the Digicel Summer Liki Tournament 2024.

In launching its sponsorship, Digicel CEO – Anthony Seuseu said it is a great opportunity to partner with the Samoa Football Federations in their development program at the grassroots level where it all starts.

“One of our goals in the next few years is to help Samoa achieve its Development Goal 3 which is cantered around good health and well-being and soccer being very popular among all ages in Samoa, as a way to assist in achieving this goal.”

Seuseu said he looks forward to a long lasting relationship with the Samoa Football Federation not only on this but other national programs.

SFF Technical Manager, Ravinesh Kumar acknowledged the sponsorship saying the program involves and targets a lot of children in primary schools.

“It is a very important partnership with Digicel starting off with the Summer Liki Tournament with ten schools in Apia and this is expected to increase and will also take the program to Savaii next year.”

Digicel CEO Anthony Seuseu also said that the sponsorship is also timely as SSF is hosting the Under19 Mens Championships tournament at the Tuana’imato grounds this week.

Total sponsorship for the Summer Liki Tournament 2024 comes to $50,000 tala with $20,000 in cash and $30,000 in kind.
