Apia, Samoa – 18 October 2024 – The new terminal designed to accommodate expected increased air traffic ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting was unveiled yesterday.

The $25 million regional terminal at the Faleolo International Airport is expected to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth from increased travel for CHOGM and beyond.

In opening the facility, Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa said the new terminal will cater and facilitate flights from various Pacific islands including American Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Tuvalu, Niue, and the Cook Islands.

“This project is not just about infrastructure; it’s about enhancing connectivity between islands, nations, and people,” said Prime Minister Fiame in her keynote address.

She emphasized that the facility will accommodate an influx of travelers while providing essential safety and security measures, thereby reducing potential flight delays during peak travel times.
