Former National Boxing Rep Arrested in Drug Raid

Apia, Samoa – 24 December 2024 – Former national boxing medalist Hugo Fata is in police custody after he was arrested today in a police drug raid at Afega.

Hugo represented Samoa in the South Pacific Games, Oceania Tournaments and the Commonwealth Games.

He is the current coach of the Laumua o Tumua rugby team and is the founder of the No Cash Car Show Association which participated in Monday’s Christmas parade on Beachroad.

He was brought in handcuffed to the police headquarters in Apia where he is detained for questioning.

In a separate raid today, another man was also arrested at a business at Matautu-uta also on drug related charges.

Efforts to obtain details from Police Commissioner Aupaau Logoitino Filipo were unsuccessful and a senior police officer said the media will be notified once details of both raids are completed.
