Despite the vast range of initiatives underway, this gathering reaffirmed the significance of the work done by Faifeau within villages.

A key recommendation from the meeting was the need for youth-focused seminars within the District, aimed at fostering leadership, empowerment, and economic opportunities. In particular, faith leaders emphasized the importance of creating business opportunities for young people as a means to promote self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

Drugs a major Concern
A major concern raised during the discussions was the impact of aisa (drugs) and the increasing reports of violence against women and girls.

Participants questioned what measures the Government, particularly the Ministry of Police, have implemented to combat these pressing issues. There was a collective call for stronger interventions, community-driven solutions, and greater collaboration between law enforcement and faith-based organizations.

Furthermore, the gathering put forward a formal request for a portion of the “Million Tala District Development Fund” to be allocated towards supporting church initiatives that contribute to social welfare, community development, and youth empowerment.

Faith leaders reiterated the fundamental role that churches play in addressing social challenges and called for continued partnership with the Government in advancing the well-being of all citizens.

The annual gathering reaffirmed the commitment of Faifeau ma Faletua to standing in unity for a safer, more inclusive, and empowered Samoa, ensuring that no one—especially the youth and vulnerable members of society—is left behind.
