Fijian citizen pleads guilty to possession of illicit drugs

Apia, Samoa – 7 April 2025 – A Fijian citizen, Rupeni Lupu has pleaded guilty to two charges of the possession of illicit drugs and will appear again at the end of this month for sentencing.

Lupu was arrested at the Fagalii Airport last week after the Customs seized a zip-lock bag containing methamphetamine and a pipe.

The Ministry of Customs said Lupu was traveling from American Samoa and on transit in Samoa bound for New Zealand.

He was placed under police custody for further investigation.

He is released on bail to await his sentencing at the end of April.
