Former Police Officer Pleads Not Guilty to Forgery

Apia, Samoa – 7 April 2025 – A former police constable, Visesio Peni has pleaded not guilty to two charges of forgery.
His lawyer applied for a court order for name suppression but after counsel’s meeting with Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma in Chambers, the application was withdrawn.
The defendant is alleged to have forged another police officer’s signature in a loan application with the Samoa National Provident Fund. The complainant was alleged to have been serving in an overseas mission at the time the loan application was made.
The defendant has since left the police service and the matter has been adjourned to mid 2025.
