Apia, Samoa – 08 April 2025 – The Electric Power Corporation is targeting 15 April to complete the installation and commission the hired generators from Fiji to normalize the electricity power supply on Upolu Island.

Speaking at the first follow-up press conference yesterday afternoon since the declaration of the state of emergency Monday last week, EPC’s Chief Executive Officer, Faumui Tauiliili Taimoana said the ship bringing the generators had just arrived at 3pm yesterday afternoon.

The generators were originally expected to arrive on 5 April to support EPC’s load-sharing efforts and reduce rationing impacts.

Meanwhile, Power Supply Rationing continues on a planned weekly schedule, with modifications as needed.

Faumui said that the Critical service areas, including the National Hospital are on the Hospital Feeder, hydro-generating areas supplied by the Fagaloa, Sauniatu, Taelefaga, and Lalomauga Feeders, as well as selected parts of the Vaitele Feeder, will remain unaffected.
