Court orders HRPP lawyers to file specific grounds for recounts

Apia, Samoa – 10 September 2025: The lawyers representing the Human Rights Protection Party have been ordered by the District Court Judges Alalatoa Rosela Papalii and Leota Raymond Schuster to file further specific grounds for their application to recount the election results for ten constituencies.

According to the Judges, they need to identify the specific grounds for a recount.

The order was issued this morning and for the lawyers to submit the specifics by the end of today.

Out of the 11 applications for recounts, 10 are by HRPP and 01 by the Independents which was already dealt with last night.

The smallest margin in the constituencies requested to be recounted is 22 and the highest is 423 votes.

Recounts before Judge Schuster include Alataua I Sisifo, Fa’asalelega 1, Fa’asaleleaga 5 and A’ana Alofi 3.

Recounts before Judge Papalii include Aleipata Itu I Luga, Satupaitea, Gagaifomauga 2, A’ana Alofi 2.

Recounts before Judge Saaga: Palauli 2, Aiga I le Tai and Sagaga 3.
