Safata 1 Election Petition decision tomorrow

Apia, Samoa – 23 October 2025 – The Election Court will deliver its decision on the Safata 1 electoral petition tomorrow. The petition was filed by unsuccessful Opposition candidate, Leaana Ronnie Posini against current MP and Minister of Natural Resources & Environment, Seve Te’i Fuimaono.

The petitioner Leaana provided more than ten witnesses to support his claim that Seve committed bribery by giving money to several voters with the intention to entice their votes.

Seve countered by filing 30 bribery allegations against Leaana and Leaana provided 17 more witnesses to counter the counter petition.

The hearing took 8 days and the court will deliver its decision tomorrow.

Allegations against DPM adjourned
Meanwhile the hearing of bribery allegations against the Deputy Prime Minister Toelupe Poumulinuku Onesemo that was supposed to start today has been adjourned to next week.

The Petitioner Tuiloma Lance Lameko filed bribery allegations against Toelupe who in turn filed 102 bribery allegations against Tuiloma.
