Police mourn the death of Officer Evile Paulo at sea

Apia, SAMOA – 4 February 2026: The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services have confirmed the passing of Sergeant Evile Paulo Ekueni, who died at sea in the course of duty.

A Police statement said Sergeant Ekueni was reported missing during a routine maritime coastal patrol yesterday. Following coordinated search efforts, his body was recovered earlier today.

“This is a deeply tragic loss to the SPPCS family and the nation,” the Police statement said.

“The Acting Commissioner, Management and Staff, extend our heartfelt condolences to the Ekueni family, relatives, colleagues, and loved ones during this very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.”
