Minister of Finance meets World Bank Division Director

Apia, SAMOA – 18 August 2026 – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Hon. Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molioo hosted the World Bank Division Director, Ms. Proskuryakova and her delegation during a courtesy visit to Samoa from 11 to 14 August.
The mission provided an opportunity for the Government of Samoa and the World Bank to discuss Samoa’s development priorities, economic growth prospects and future areas of cooperation.
The delegation also met with senior government officials from implementing agencies to review progress on current World Bank projects.
Discussions focused on implementation challenges and ways to speed up progress.
Consultations were also held on the draft Samoa Country Growth and Jobs Report prepared by the World Bank.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the report outlines pathways to support economic growth, improve productivity and create more and better jobs for Samoans.
Senior government officials, private sector representatives and civil society organisations took part in discussions on the report.
Participants included the Samoa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Samoa Umbrella for NGOs (SUNGO), Samoa Association of Manufacturers and Exporters (SAME), Samoa Business Hub (SBH) and Women in Business Development Inc. (WIBDI).
The Government of Samoa reaffirmed the importance of its partnership with the World Bank and welcomed its continued support for economic resilience, sustainable growth and greater opportunities for Samoans.
The Minister of Finance said she looks forward to continued cooperation with the World Bank as Samoa advances its development agenda.
