Apia, Samoa – 03 March 2025 – In a last-minute gamble, Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa met with the HRPP Leader this afternoon after the parliament session was cut short this morning as a second motion of no confidence in the Cabinet and Prime Minister is scheduled for voting tomorrow morning.

Talamua understands, Fiame sought HRPPs support against the motion proposed by the FAST Party Leader, Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao.

Tuilaepa has already announced his support for the motion that is based on similar issues proposed his motion that was defeated in parliament last Tuesday. He is however proposing several amendments to the FAST Leaders’ motion to be voted on tomorrow.

After this afternoon’s meeting, sources said Tuilaepa informed Fiame that HRPPs caucus support for the motion remains but subject to the amendments being accepted.

Tuilaepa has publicly voiced his advice to Fiame to resign honorably rather than being forced out in a vote of no confidence with negative repercussions for herself, her constituency and the country.
