Blogger Mau Hunt slapped with another charge

Apia, Samoa – 13 August 2025: Police have filed a new charge against blogger Mau Hunt based on social media post accusing police of raiding his relatives house at Lotofagā, Safata, when there was no one there as everyone are in America.

Hunt’s lawyer Fuimaono Josephine Sapolu told the court that her client has not been served.

Outside court, she said that Hunt is facing other charges, and the court has issued bail conditions that include refraining from posting on social media.

She is yet to find out whether the court bail issued was not to post on social media on matters pertaining to a case he is already charged with or posting on social media generally.

Hunt is charged with defamation pertaining to posts he made regarding a coffin that arrived on Samoa Airways from American Samoa without a body but with drugs.

He is yet to be served with the new charge when he appeared in court yesterday.

The matter is adjourned to next week.
