BREAKING: Court dismisses challenge against FAST Party Secretary

Apia, Samoa – 15 August 2025 – The FAST Party Secretary, Va’aaoao Salu Alofipo has been cleared to run in the 29 August general elections. The Election Courts decision today cleared Va’aaoao as a candidate as it dismissed caretaker Deputy PM, Tuala P0nifasios challenge against the qualification of the matais who endorsed Va’aaoao’s candidacy.

Other decisions delivered this afternoon cleared the caretake minister of Public Enterprises to be elected unopposed when the court disqualified the two candidates running against Leatinu’u for the Faleata 2 constituency.

HRPP candidate Ulugia Elon Betham and FAST Party candidate Muaaufaalele Mary Taeu have been deemed disqualified as the court upheld Leatinu’u’s challenge against the two candidate’s qualifications and eligibility to run.

In another election decision, the FAST Party Leader Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi will still have competition on polling day as the court today declared that Faaulusau Rosa Duffy Stowers is qualified to run for the Gagaifomauga 3 constituency.
