By Lagi Keresoma/
Apia, Samoa – 7 October 2025: The first Samoan woman appointed Assistant Police Commissioner, Papalii Efo Peika Moalele has resigned and will officially end her tenure as a police officer next week.
Papalii is one of a few women that have broken barriers and challenges in a male dominated workplace and after 20 years of service, was appointed Assistant Commissioner in 2021.
In an interview after her promotion about her vision for women in the police force, she said her focus was on empowering women and for them to be recognised within the workplace.
Daughter of the late Police Inspector, Taimalelagi Peika Moalele, Papalii took pride in serving and continuing her father’s legacy in serving the country through the Ministry of Police.
She said climbing the ladder in a male dominated environment was not easy but her perseverance, confidence and the passion to serve drove her past challenges.
One of those testing times was when she faced charges of assault which were later dismissed by the court.
She has led many police missions locally and internationally and has been instrumental in lobbying for policewomen standards within the ministry.
She was also very much involved in domestic matters brought to the office and later headed the Domestic Violence & family division.
