Ale Vena Ale sworn-in as new Minister of the Environment
Apia, SAMOA – 16 December 2025: Faleata 4 Member of Parliament Ale Vena Ale was sworn in this morning as the new Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources. He replaces Seve Te’i Fuimaono who lost her seat in an election petition two weeks ago.
The ceremony was conducted by the Speaker of Parliament, Auapaau Aloitafua Mulipola after Parliament’s Prayer Service to mark its final sitting for the year.
Ale won the Faleata 4 parliamentary seat after defeating two candidates in the August general election and is not new to the political arena.
He first entered Parliament in a by-election in 2010 but lost the seat in the 2011 general election.
He unsuccessfully competed in the 2016 general election but returned as the Faleata 4 MP in 2021 as an HRPP candidate.
However, after challenging the HRPP leadership, Ale and two other HRPP members resigned in June 2022 and came back as a FAST Party candidate in the by election that followed.
He was appointed the Associate Minister of Health but was later removed when there was a split in the FAST Government after four Cabinet Ministers were removed in January 2025 that ultimately forced a motion of no confidence against the Fiame led government and an early election in August this year.
A respected orator, Ale also served as member of the Public Service Commission and a board member of the Electric Power Corporation.
