SVSG & Anoamaa 2 Strengthen Partnership to Prevent Gender-Based Violence
Apia, SAMOA – 20 January 2026 – A preparatory training was held yesterday with the Anoamaa 2 constituency committee to deepen understanding of gender-based violence (GBV) and to prepare leaders to co-present with Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) in a series of upcoming village trainings across the district.
The training equips the committee to jointly deliver three scheduled village-level trainings with SVSG, beginning 26–28 January 2026 in Solosolo. These sessions will focus on GBV prevention, community awareness, and practical application at the village level.
This partnership is critical to ensuring both the sustainability and effective application of GBV prevention initiatives within villages.
The Anoamaa 2 committee is comprised of village matai and faipule, making this initial engagement essential to building shared understanding and securing leadership commitment to advocate strongly against violence within families and communities.
By first strengthening the knowledge and support of matai and faipule, the program ensures that GBV prevention messages are delivered with authority, cultural relevance, and consistency—reinforcing community ownership of solutions.
The training was facilitated by Mapusoa Tanya Toailoa and her SVSG team, who provided technical guidance and practical tools to support co-presentation and village engagement.
SVSG acknowledges the leadership of Anoamaa 2 and its committee for their commitment to protecting women, girls, and families, and looks forward to continued collaboration throughout the scheduled village trainings.
This is a SVSG project in partnership with UN Trust Fund.
