Prof. Tuifuisa’a Patila Amosa reappointed Vice Chancellor
Apia, SAMOA – 5 March 2026 – Cabinet has approved the re-appointment of Professor Tuifuisa’a Patila Amosa as Vice Chancellor and President of the National University of Samoa for a further three-year term.
She holds the distinction as the first woman to hold the position and the first NUS graduate to become Vice Chancellor at the National University of Samoa.
Professor Tuifuisa’a brings extensive experience and long-standing service to the National University of Samoa. Her leadership and expertise continue to play an important role in guiding the university’s development and strengthening higher education in Samoa.
A former Dean of the Faculty of Science, she is a researcher specializing in climate change, marine biogeochemistry, and water quality.
She is a long-serving academic and researcher at NUS (over 25 years) and was among the founding students of the University’s Preparatory Programme (UPY) in 1984.
Her leadership emphasizes strengthening research in STEM, climate change, and law, as well as advancing digital education and infrastructure.
