Apia, SAMOA – 04 May 2026 – As part of the ongoing training and capacity-building programme of the Office of the Attorney General, we wish to formally and sincerely acknowledge the invaluable contribution of Afoa Lagaaia Fetuliai Lagaaia, who dedicated five weeks of service to the Office.

Mr Lagaaia accepted this engagement at the remuneration level of an Assistant Attorney General, representing a significant personal sacrifice. This included taking a substantial reduction from his private practice earnings and placing his own legal practice on hold. This commitment reflects a deep sense of duty and service to Samoa.

With over 15 years of legal experience, Mr Lagaaia brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise. His distinguished career includes serving as a senior prosecutor within the Office of the Attorney General, as well as in-house counsel at the Audit Office, before furthering his qualifications through postgraduate legal studies overseas.

During his time with the Office, Mr Lagaaia played a key role in strengthening the capacity of our lawyers. He provided mentorship and hands-on training, shared practical litigation experience, and appeared in court on behalf of the Office, demonstrating professionalism and excellence in advocacy.

His decision to return and contribute was driven by a strong sense of responsibility and appreciation for the Office, which played a significant role in shaping his legal career. His willingness to give back in such a meaningful way is a testament to his character and commitment to the legal profession in Samoa.

The Office of the Attorney General extends its deepest gratitude to Mr Lagaaia for his time, expertise, and sacrifice in supporting the development of our lawyers and the continued strengthening of the justice system.
