Acting PM and Finance Minister Hosts New ADB Regional Director

Apia, SAMOA – 6 July 2026 – The Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molioo, welcomed Ms. Azusa Sato, the newly appointed Regional Director of the Asian Development Bank’s Pacific Sub-Regional Office in Suva, Fiji.
Mulipola expressed her appreciation for ADB’s long-standing support and partnership with Samoa.
According to the Ministry of Finance the meeting focused on Samoa’s main development goals, the current state of the economy, and how ADB can help support these areas.
Mulipola reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to working closely with ADB to achieve national priorities outlined in the Pathway for the Development of Samoa 2026/27-2030/31.
The Ministry emphasized that Samoa has been a member of ADB and was founded since 1966.
Over the years, Samoa has received support through grants, concessional loans, and technical assistance.
The Ministry clarified the ongoing projects align with the Government’s focus on health, finance, transportation, infrastructure, environment, and climate resilience.
Looking ahead, the Government is eager to strengthen its collaboration with ADB under Ms. Sato’s leadership to deliver meaningful development results that benefit the people of Samoa.
