18 Brawling National University Students to Face Disciplinary Process

Apia, SAMOA – 24 July 2026 – The National University of Samoa has announced that it is currently handling an internal disciplinary case related to two recent student fights on campus.

The video clips of the incidents were shared on social media and according to NUS, they are using CCTV footage and videos circulating publicly in their investigation and the University has already identified a total of 18 students involved in the incidents.

So far, 13 students have come forward and are now facing disciplinary process.

The University is handling this situation following the rules in the NUS Student Conduct Statute 2014 and during Orientation Week, students are reminded of the Student Code of Conduct.

This document explains how the University investigates and deals with student misbehaviour. It is shared every year in the NUS Calendar, which all students receive.

According to NUS, the incident shared on social media seems to be connected to an earlier fight that happened at the University’s Foyer on Friday.

That fight started when a student, who was believed to be drunk, got into an argument that became physical.

The second incident on Tuesday is thought to be a revenge clash involving more students.

The University is still looking into both incidents and NUS emphasizes that it’s too soon to say what happened or who was involved.

Meanwhile, Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services have also started their own investigation into the incidents.

The Police warned the public such actions like disturbing the peace, attacking others or gathering unlawfully to cause trouble are serious crimes.

Police also explained that if individuals are found to have committed such offenses, they can be prosecuted in court.

The National University clarified they will work alongside the Police and will continue its own independent disciplinary process following university rules.

The University makes it clear that violence and behaviour that break the Student Code of Conduct will not be allowed and will be dealt with accordingly.
