18-year-old Seine Stowers wins Samoa’s first Gold at Commonwealth Games

Apia, SAMOA – 30 July 2026: Samoa’s 18-year-old weightlifting sensation, Seine Stowers last night secured Samoa’s first Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games currently hosted in Glasgow, Scotland.

Seine grabbed Gold in the Women’s 77KG ahead of Isabella Brown of England who won Silver and Laura Huges of Wales for Bronze.

Seine was expected to do well at the Commonwealth after a brilliant performance at the Samoa IBCF Universal Weightlifting Cup 2026 in Apia in April.

The Samoa Weightlifting team has now secured one Gold by Seine and 1 Silver by John Tafi.
