Measina Arts & Cultural Festival 2026 Logo Launch

Apia, SAMOA — 26 August 2026 — The logo that encompasses the Measina Cultural & Arts Festival was unveiled by the Deputy Prime Minister, Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molioo after the keynote address delivered by Prime Minister La’aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt at the STA Fale this moorning.

The Prime Minister stressed that the festival represents more than a celebration of Samoan arts and culture and provides an opportunity to showcase Samoa’s identity, values and culture to visitors and the wider world.

“Measina translates in English as utmost treasure, something that is precious, that is very dear to our hearts,” La’auli said.

It is the first year of the Measina Festival that replaces the Teuila Festival which was created to generate tourism at the low season.

The 2026 Measina Festival opens on Sunday 30 with a Thanksgiving church service and evangelical performances, and features food and handicrafts stalls, showcases traditional and modern entertainment, sports and fun games, Samoan crafts and fine arts, horse racing, and culminating in the longboats – fautasi races and the Miss Samoa Pageant.

“It is about celebrating what makes us different from the whole world. It is our identity, our character,” the Prime Minister said.

He also emphasized that Samoans should not only celebrate the Measina Festival but also respect and protect what it represents.

Cultural meaning behind the logo
The Samoa Tourism Chief executive Officer, Niumata Kitiona Pogi emphasized the newly launched logo embodies the values and cultural identity that are unique to Samoa.

Tanoa – highlights a sense of community and the respect shown to visitors. It represents the welcoming of visitors with respect.

Tuiga – represents the identity of Samoan women and refers to the purity of women and highlights the importance of Tamaita’i as guardians of traditional values.

To’oto’o and Fue – reflect the importance of Samoa’s stories and language. They also represent the values of chiefs and the important role of culture within the community.

The logo brings these cultural symbols together and is wrapped in Alofa – Love; Fa’aaloalo – Respect and Faith in God, reflecting the values that are important to Samoa.

Festival receives support from sponsors
The Measina Festival 2026 also announced two Gold Sponsors, with Vodafone Samoa presenting $50,000 and Ah-Liki, represented by its Taxi brand, also presenting $50,000.

Digicel Samoa was announced as a Supporting Sponsor, providing $10,000 through Onomea Production and the Miss Samoa Pageant and their preparations.

The launch of the logo marks an important part of the festival’s preparations and reinforces the message that Samoa’s cultural heritage is a treasure that should be celebrated, respected and protected by its own people.
