$800,000 medical bill for 18 patients’ overseas treatment

Apia, SAMOA – 01 September 2026 – Cabinet last week approved overseas treatment for 18 patients at a cost of approximately $800,000 tala.

Of the 18 patients, 11 will receive medical treatment in Fiji, six in India and one in New Zealand.

The Government has allocated $12m annually for the Overseas Medical Treatment Programme.
