Early White Sunday for Children at the Campus of Hope

Apia, SAMOA – 30 September 2026 – The children cared under the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) Campus of Hope at Tuanaimato, were treated to an early taste of White Sunday yesterday.

The Campus welcomed the Third Year Class of Malua Theological College, led by Rev. Dr. Reupena Mauloto, as the College begins its annual three-week White Sunday programme with the children and residents of the Campus.

The longstanding partnership between Malua Theological College and SVSG brings together faith, service and community in the lead-up to Samoa’s annual White Sunday celebrations.

Each year, students from the College dedicate time to visit the Campus of Hope, engage with the children, share fellowship and contribute practical support to the organisation.

The 2026 programme commenced on Sunday, 27 September, with a special Faigalotu led by the Third Year Class.

The programme included worship, prayer and gospel items presented by the students, followed by the presentation of generously donated food items and laundry necessities for the children and residents of the Campus of Hope.

The annual programme provides an opportunity for the students of Malua Theological College to put their faith into action through service and fellowship, while creating meaningful opportunities for the children at the Campus to experience encouragement, connection and community.

For SVSG, partnerships such as this play an important role in creating a supportive environment for children and young people who are living at the Campus of Hope.

The ongoing commitment of community, faith-based and other organisations, help ensure that the children experience not only practical support, but also meaningful relationships and positive experiences as they grow.

SVSG President Siliniu Lina Chang acknowledged the continued commitment of Malua Theological College and expressed appreciation for the College’s longstanding relationship with the Campus of Hope.

“Each year, we are grateful to welcome the students of Malua Theological College to the Campus of Hope. Their presence, prayers, songs and time spent with the children are what make this partnership so meaningful,” she said.

SVSG extends its sincere appreciation to Rev. Associate Professor Dr. Alesana Pala’amo, Rev. Dr. Reupena Mauloto, the Third Year Class, and the wider Malua Theological College community for their continued support and commitment to the children of the Campus of Hope.

The three-week programme will continue in the lead-up to White Sunday, with further activities planned to provide opportunities for fellowship, encouragement and celebration for the children and residents of the Campus.

White Sunday is celebrated on the second Sunday of October and is dedicated to the children. It was founded by the Congregational Christian Church more than 100 years ago where children are at the centre stage performing plays, singing and citations from the Bible and the children receive special treatment during the day. The following Monday is the White Sunday Public Holiday.
